Hanauâs festive cruise brings seniors and police together for safety lessons
A special Christmas cruise took place in Hanau earlier this month, offering seniors a chance to relax while learning about safety. Organised by the cityâs Senior Citizensâ Office, the two-day event brought together older residents with local police officers. The trip aimed to foster connections and share important advice on staying secure in daily life.
The cruise set off on December 9 from the 'Schloss Phillipsruhe' dock in Hanau. Around 200 seniors boarded the ship on the first day, enjoying a scenic route to Seligenstadt and back. Senior safety advisor Dieter Loges oversaw the event, ensuring participants received useful materials on avoiding risksâwhether at the front door, over the phone, online, or while out.
The Senior Christmas River Cruise wrapped up on December 10 after two days of discussions and sightseeing. Participants left with informational booklets and a clearer understanding of how to protect themselves. The event reinforced ties between Hanauâs senior community and the police, offering both reassurance and practical support.
