Hanau’s Christmas market concert raises €5,000 for children’s hospice care

A festive charity event at Hanau’s Christmas market has raised €5,000 for a local hospice service. Over 100 singers, including children, teens and adults, performed alongside Mayor Dr. Maximilian Bieri and a brass ensemble. The donation will support families caring for young people with life-limiting illnesses.

The performance took place at the Steinheim Evangelical Church’s stage, where young singers were later rewarded with cotton candy and gingerbread. Their efforts secured a €5,000 pledge from Sparkasse Hanau, earmarked for the Ambulatory Pediatric and Adolescent Hospice Service (AKHD).

Mayor Dr. Bieri praised the event as 'fun and truly wonderful', emphasising its impact on the children’s and youth hospice service. He also thanked both paid staff and volunteers for their dedication. The AKHD currently assists 26 families across Hanau and the Main-Kinzig district, providing care for seriously ill children, teens, and young adults, as well as their loved ones. The evening fostered a strong sense of community, with adults joining the young performers in song. Organisers noted the event’s role in raising awareness and funds for the hospice’s vital work.

The donation will directly benefit the AKHD, which can be contacted at 06181 9526960 or via email at [email protected]. The funds will help sustain support for families facing life-limiting illnesses in the region. Sparkasse Hanau’s contribution follows the success of the charity performance at the Christmas market.
