Hanau's 100th Laafparad Klanaam Closes with Dazzling Parades and Community Pride

Hanau's 100th Laafparad Klanaam has drawn to a close after five lively parades filled the streets with colour and celebration. Organised by the Karnevalszugverein Klein-Auheim e.V., the event showcased 60 floats, marking a century of tradition for the city's carnival scene. Behind the scenes, hundreds of volunteers, emergency crews, and city workers ensured everything ran smoothly—despite a minor disruption during one procession.

The festivities kicked off with the grand parade in Hanau's city centre, featuring 54 floats and three marching bands. Across the week, 15 local carnival associations took part, bringing elaborate performances to neighbourhoods like Tümpelgarten, Steinheim, Klein-Auheim, and Großauheim. Each procession drew crowds, reinforcing the event's role in uniting residents.

Safety remained a priority throughout. The municipal public works department assigned 65 staff and 11 vehicles to secure parade routes. State and local police, alongside traffic authorities, managed crowds and kept roads clear. Street cleaning teams followed closely, clearing confetti, packaging, and debris after each event. The celebrations faced a brief setback during the Lamboy/TĂźmpelgarten parade. Unknown individuals threw plastic bottles and broken glass, damaging one of the floats. Despite this, organisers and emergency responders handled the situation quickly, allowing the procession to continue without further issues.

Hanau's carnival season relied on the efforts of countless people—from carnival club members to city employees and emergency services. Officials have thanked all involved for their professionalism and dedication. With five parades completed, the city now looks back on a week of vibrant displays and strengthened community spirit.
