Hanau Unveils Unified Hub for Social Support and Job Services Under One Roof
Hanau has launched a new one-stop hub for social support and job services. The Social Forum opened its doors on January 2, 2023, at 8:00 a.m. on Willy-Brandt-Straße 23. The centre brings together the Social Welfare Office and the Job Center under a single roof for the first time.
The Social Forum aims to simplify access to social counselling, financial aid, and employment assistance. By combining services, officials hope to provide faster, more tailored help to residents. The model also allows staff to align support with local needs and individual circumstances.
Mayor and Social Affairs Commissioner Dr. Maximilian Bieri attended the opening alongside Monika Wendt, director of the Hanau Job Center, and Heike Hengster from the Federal Employment Agency. Bieri described the launch as a significant step for the city, expressing cautious optimism about its impact. The new system shifts full responsibility for core social and labour policies to Hanau’s local administration. Residents can now receive coordinated support in one place instead of visiting multiple offices. The integrated approach is designed to reduce delays and improve communication between welfare and employment services.
The Social Forum’s opening marks a change in how Hanau delivers social and job-related assistance. With both the Welfare Office and Job Center now co-located, the city expects more efficient and responsive support for its citizens. Officials will monitor the system’s performance as it develops.
