Hanau schools launch free financial education for students and parents
Hanau's schools are set to receive free financial education programs for students. The initiative, backed by Mayor Dr. Maximilian Bieri and Sparkasse Hanau CEO Guido Braun, will teach responsible money management. An upcoming event on February 26, 2023, will also guide parents on pocket money and financial role modelling.
The programs cover essential topics like bank accounts, digital payments, insurance, loans, and retirement planning. Students will also learn about handling their first paychecks. Sparkasse Hanau's training consists of five modules, each lasting 45 to 60 minutes, and can fit flexibly into school schedules.
Qualified instructors from Sparkasse Hanau will lead the sessions at no cost to schools. The initiative aims to support—not replace—existing school curricula, reducing the workload for teachers.
For parents, an informational evening titled All About Pocket Money: A Roadmap for Parents will take place at Stadthof in Hanau on February 26, 2023, starting at 6:30 PM. The event will address parents' roles as financial role models, pocket money management, and age-appropriate banking for children.
The collaboration between Hanau's city government and Sparkasse Hanau expands financial literacy for young people. Schools can now access structured, expert-led programs without additional costs. The upcoming parent event further reinforces financial education at home.
