Hanau police crack down on drugs, scams, and a missing teen in busy week
A series of incidents in Hanau has kept local police busy over the past few days. Officers carried out drug-focused traffic checks, recovered a missing teenager, and warned residents about a fake police officer scam. The operations led to arrests and the discovery of illegal substances.
On Monday evening, a 16-year-old girl from Hanau was reported missing, prompting a search effort. Authorities later confirmed she had been found safe, and the operation was called off.
During routine traffic checks aimed at detecting drug use, police took blood samples from six drivers. One incident involved a 15-year-old Hanau resident who fled on an e-scooter after testing positive for THC. Officers apprehended the teen and discovered a package containing around 100 grams of hashish nearby.
Separately, an elderly woman fell victim to a scam after an imposter posing as a police officer tricked her into handing over cash and jewellery. The suspect was described as a man aged 20 to 25, roughly 5'7" tall, wearing a blue quilted jacket with a 'bear patch' on the upper arm, a white T-shirt, jeans, and black sneakers.
The missing girl has been safely located, and the search has ended. Police continue to investigate the drug-related incidents and the fraud case involving the fake officer. Residents are advised to remain vigilant against similar scams.
