Hanau offers free Christmas tree recycling with strict rules in 2023
Hanau residents can now dispose of their natural Christmas trees for free. Collections will take place from January 12 to 16, 2023, with specific rules in place to ensure smooth processing. Those who miss the kerbside pickup can also drop off trees at local recycling centers.
Hanau Infrastruktur Service (HIS) will gather trees left at the roadside between January 12 and 16. Each household may leave one or two undecorated trees, but they must be no taller than 2 metres with a trunk diameter under 15 cm. Any tree not placed at the curb by 6:00 AM on the scheduled day will not be collected later.
During this week, no bulky waste pickups will occur. Residents with trees too large or late for collection can still take them to Hanau’s green waste recycling centers or the recycling depot. These facilities will accept trees during normal opening hours at no charge.
The free disposal scheme covers only natural, standard-sized trees without decorations. Collections run for five days, with strict timing and size limits. Those unable to use the kerbside service still have the option of recycling centers for disposal.
