Hanau hit by racist graffiti, thefts and illegal items found in bars

A series of crimes and incidents have been reported across Hanau and the surrounding Main-Kinzig district over the past few days. Police are investigating multiple cases, including vandalism, theft, and a traffic collision.

One of the most concerning discoveries came during routine checks on local bars and venues, where officers uncovered illegal items.

On Wednesday evening, a garage wall on Burgstraße in Gründau was defaced with swastikas and racist graffiti. The damage, estimated at €200, was reported at around 4:45 PM. Police have launched an investigation into criminal damage and are appealing for witnesses who may have seen suspicious activity between 2 PM and 4 PM.

A homeowner on Lindenstraße in Hanau found their front door’s glass panel shattered, resulting in €1,500 worth of damage. Meanwhile, thieves targeted a single-family home in Bruchköbel, breaking in through a kitchen window. Jewellery and cash worth several thousand euros were stolen, along with €500 in property damage. In a separate incident, an unknown thief broke into a blue Audi Q5 in Hanau, taking a wallet and a charging cable. Traffic officers also dealt with a three-vehicle crash on Rodenbacher Straße in Erlensee. Two people suffered minor injuries, and two of the vehicles were left undriveable. During joint inspections of bars and venues in Hanau, authorities made a troubling discovery. A loaded firearm, untaxed e-cigarettes, suspected narcotics, and testosterone were found on the premises.

Police continue to investigate the incidents, including the racist graffiti in Gründau and the thefts in Hanau and Bruchköbel. The discovery of illegal items during bar inspections has raised further concerns. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist with ongoing enquiries.
