Hanau Crime Wave: Handbag Snatching, Vandalism, and Burglaries
Hanau and surrounding areas have seen a spate of criminal incidents over the past few days. A man snatched a handbag in Hanau, while unknown individuals vandalised a store in Langenselbold. Meanwhile, a car was broken into and a wallet stolen in Hanau, and a house was burgled in Linsengericht.
On Thursday evening around 6:45 p.m., a man matching the description of being 40 to 50 years old, around 1.75 meters tall, stocky, with a goatee, short black hair, and wearing a dark puffer jacket, shirt, black jeans, and black shoes, allegedly snatched a customer's handbag in Hanau. The handbag and its contents are valued at approximately €200.
In Langenselbold, unknown individuals caused an estimated €5,000 in property damage by spray-painting the exterior of a grocery discount store with gray and black paint between Tuesday, 7:15 a.m., and Wednesday, 7:15 a.m.
A thief stole a wallet and a jacket from a Honda in Hanau between Wednesday, 9 p.m., and Thursday, 8:45 a.m., causing around €500 in damage to the car's window.
Burglars broke into a detached house in Linsengericht on Thursday, forcing open the locked cellar door and ransacking the home between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The stolen items were taken after the car's window was smashed, causing around €500 in damage.
An unidentified driver struck an advertising sign belonging to a restaurant in Wächtersbach between Wednesday, 11 p.m., and Thursday, 8:45 a.m., causing roughly €1,000 in damage before leaving the scene.
