Hammer-wielding woman sparks chaos in Wiesbaden bakery and park

A woman wielding a hammer caused panic in central Wiesbaden on Thursday morning. The incident began at a local bakery on Langgasse before escalating in the nearby Kurpark. Police intervened swiftly, ensuring no injuries occurred.

The disturbance started when the woman entered the bakery and threatened an employee with the hammer. She attempted to smash the display window before fleeing the scene. Her actions then moved to the Kurpark, where she verbally abused and threatened three more women with the same weapon.

Police located and apprehended her within the park. Officers noted her severe psychological distress during the arrest. Due to her condition, she was taken directly to a nearby psychiatric clinic for evaluation and care. Authorities have not released her identity. The incident took place on January 15, 2026, and remains under investigation.

The woman now receives treatment at a specialized clinic. Police confirmed that no physical harm came to anyone involved in the confrontation. The case highlights the rapid response of local law enforcement in managing the situation.
