Halle's Huts for Halle Campaign Aims to Build Sheltered Community Spaces

A new crowdfunding campaign in Halle is looking to create sheltered outdoor spaces for young people and the wider community. Called Huts for Halle, the project aims to raise €3,000 to build weatherproof seating areas made from repurposed materials. The Bürgerstiftung Halle launched the initiative to provide a comfortable hangout spot near Thuringian Station. The first phase involves installing Sitzröhren—seating tubes crafted from old concrete drainage pipes. Each tube will be fitted with wooden benches and tables, offering a dry place to sit and socialise.

If the campaign succeeds, extra funds will go towards planting a green roof of succulents on the tubes. This will improve sustainability and add visual appeal. The money raised will also cover transport, installation, and interior finishing. The project's success could lead to 10 more seating tubes being installed across Halle. Organisers hope the spaces will benefit families, athletes, walkers, and residents by improving local quality of life.

Every donation brings the project closer to reality. The seating tubes will offer a practical and attractive space for the community. If fully funded, the pilot could expand, creating more sheltered spots throughout the city.
