Halle invests €60 million to modernize three key schools by 2026

Halle City Council has greenlit a major investment in local schools, allocating over €60 million for renovations and expansions. The funding will transform three key educational sites, with upgrades designed to improve learning environments and accessibility.

The largest share of the budget—€25.6 million—will go to Johannesschule. The project focuses on an integrative approach, blending school and after-school care facilities. Plans include a clear division between teaching and leisure spaces, expanded activity areas, and a flexible multifunctional zone.

The Am Kirchteich school complex will receive around €23 million for a full renovation and restructuring. The redesign introduces open learning landscapes and a more logical, accessible layout. The aim is to create a modern, adaptable space for students and staff. At Christian-Wolff-Gymnasium, €15 million has been set aside for a new 1,800-square-metre assembly hall. The building will house a large multifunctional hall, a dedicated music room, specialist classrooms, and a library. The expansion is intended to support a wider range of academic and extracurricular activities.

The approved funds will reshape key schools in Halle, with each project addressing specific needs. Johannesschule gains improved after-school facilities, Am Kirchteich adopts a more accessible design, and Christian-Wolff-Gymnasium expands its learning spaces. Construction timelines and further details on affected schools remain unconfirmed.
