h_da Closes C10 Building Due to Power Failure; Funding Cut Looms

Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences (h_da) has closed the C10 building due to a backup power system failure. Students and staff have been notified and all events, including lectures, have been canceled until Monday. The building will remain closed on Friday, with employees working remotely where possible.

The closure comes as a result of ongoing repair work on the emergency power system and other critical safety-related technical systems. The university has assured that normal operations are expected to resume on Monday. Students will receive further updates throughout the day.

In other news, universities in Hesse, including h_da, are set to receive around €30 million less next year than in the current year. This is due to the state's higher education funding agreement, known as the Hochschulpakt. The Hessian state government is responsible for this funding cut.
