Gladenbach Honors Nine Volunteers for Decades of Community Service

Nine volunteers from Gladenbach have received the State of Hesse’s Certificate of Honor for their long-standing community work. District Administrator Jens Womelsdorf presented the awards to recognise their dedication across various local organisations.

The recipients included individuals who have served in roles ranging from treasurers and chairs to board members and youth trainers, contributing decades of service to clubs and associations in the region.

Among those honoured was Silke Barth, who has led the Frohnhausen Homeland and Beautification Association as chair since 2006. She oversees projects and manages correspondence for the group. Hermann Schulz, the association’s treasurer since 2009, also received the award.

Thomas Burk was recognised for his multiple roles, including deputy chair of an association since 2008 and treasurer of the Frohnhausen Reservists’ Comradeship since 1986. He has also been active in local politics. Hans-Dieter Scheld, another awardee, has served on Frohnhausen’s local council and chaired the same reservists’ group. In sports and youth work, Michael Pfuhl has been deputy chairman of a club since 2004, assisting with youth training and competency exams. His wife, Anja Pfuhl, received the award for her role as treasurer of the Mornshausen Small-Caliber Sports Shooting Club since 2008, where she also supports youth training. Holger Flurschütz, a board member of SC 1919 Gladenbach e.V. since 2001, was acknowledged for his contributions to the club’s growth and community ties. Arthur Weiß, a co-founder of two senior care associations in Gladenbach, was honoured for his board service in both organisations. Sieglinde Tiefenbach, who served as secretary and treasurer for the VdK and OHGV in Gladenbach, also received the certificate. The remaining recipients, Siegfried Klein and Herbert Benner, were part of the group but their specific contributions were not detailed in the announcement.

The awards highlight the broad range of volunteer work in Gladenbach, from sports and youth training to local governance and senior care. Each recipient has committed years—or even decades—to supporting their community through various organisations.

District Administrator Womelsdorf’s presentation marked official recognition of their efforts by the State of Hesse.
