Gießen Rocked by Car Crashes, Church Break-in, and Theft

A series of incidents have occurred in Gießen recently, involving a car crash, a church break-in, and a theft. The events have left locals shaken and authorities seeking witnesses.

On Thursday, October 23, 2025, at around 1:35 PM, a white VW Transporter struck a parked black Audi Q5 while turning left from Wilsonstraße onto Riegelpfad. The collision resulted in minor injuries to the VW driver and a 26-year-old female passenger on the bus. The VW Golf was rendered undriveable. Witnesses reported that the Transporter driver briefly stopped before driving away. Police are urging anyone with information to contact them at +49 641 7006-3555.

Two days later, on Sunday, October 26, 2025, between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM, an unknown individual broke into St. Boniface Church. The intruder forced open a door on an upper floor, searched through cabinets, and entered an office, ransacking more cabinets. Cash was stolen from a money box during the break-in. Police are asking witnesses who saw suspicious activity to contact them at +49 641 7006-6555.

The following Monday, October 27, 2025, at approximately 8:25 AM, a 35-year-old man from Lollar was driving his VW Golf and collided with an oncoming city bus while attempting to turn left onto Turnstraße. The collision also damaged a house wall on Turnstraße and a traffic sign, with total property damage estimated at €11,000.

Authorities are investigating these incidents and appealing for witnesses to come forward. The church break-in and theft have left the community concerned, while the car crashes have caused injuries and property damage. Anyone with information is urged to contact Gießen police.
