Gießen protests halt regional trains, leaving passengers stranded over weekend

Protests and roadblocks in Gießen have disrupted regional rail services over the weekend. Several train lines face cancellations, with replacement buses filling in for some routes. Passengers should expect changes to evening and nighttime journeys.

Trains on Regionalbahn line RB 99 between Gießen and Siegen will not run during evening and nighttime hours. The same applies to RB 40 services between Ehringshausen and Dillenburg. Both routes have been suspended due to the ongoing disruptions.

Gießen-Oswaldsgarten station will stay closed until late Sunday night on line RB 41. Meanwhile, replacement buses for RB 46 will operate only between Nidda and Gießen Erdkauter Weg. The usual stop at Gießen central station has also been moved to a new location.

A temporary bus service will cover some of the canceled train routes. However, not all affected passengers will have direct alternatives available.

The changes mean fewer train options for travellers in the region until Sunday night. Those planning journeys should check for updates on replacement services and station closures. Delays and cancellations are likely to continue until the protests end.
