Gesund.de closes in on Shop Apotheke with record Rx sales growth in 2025
Gesund.de has strengthened its role as Germany’s top digital partner for traditional pharmacies. The company’s latest financial results show rapid growth, closing in on its biggest rival, Shop Apotheke. A surge in new users and repeat orders drove much of this progress in the final quarter of 2025.
The company’s external prescription (Rx) revenue hit €417 million for the year, exceeding its €400 million target. In the fourth quarter alone, Rx sales reached €121 million, up from €113 million in the previous three months. This growth pushed Gesund.de’s Q4 revenue to 78% of Shop Apotheke’s, a sharp rise from just over a third in Q3 2024.
Over the past year, Gesund.de consistently grew faster than Shop Apotheke in every quarter except the last. Despite this, Shop Apotheke retained a 21% lead in full-year Rx sales, reporting €503 million. Still, Gesund.de’s gains reflect its expanding influence in the market. A December survey by aposcope revealed that half of 355 pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and assistants now use the platform. Dr. Peter Schreiner, the company’s CEO, credited the growth to an influx of new customers and higher repeat orders. Meanwhile, Managing Director Maximilian Achenbach highlighted the firm’s mission to support local pharmacies through digital innovation. The results underline Gesund.de’s push to compete with foreign online retailers. By focusing on brick-and-mortar partnerships, the company has carved out a distinct position in the sector.
Gesund.de’s revenue now stands at nearly four-fifths of Shop Apotheke’s, marking a significant shift in the digital pharmacy landscape. The company’s focus on local providers and steady user growth suggests it will remain a key player in the market. For now, however, Shop Apotheke maintains its lead in overall sales.
