Germany’s housing market has seen a sharp rise in new building approvals this year. Between January and October, officials greenlit around 195,000 apartments—a notable increase from 2024. The latest figures reveal strong growth in both single-family and multi-family housing projects.

The surge in approvals became clear early in the year. From January to September alone, 175,600 residential units received the go-ahead. This marked an 11.2 percent jump compared to the same period in 2024.

The latest approvals bring the total for 2025 close to 195,000 new apartments. Both single-family and multi-family sectors have expanded, reflecting rising demand. Officials have yet to confirm which cities are driving the growth.
