Firework Imports Significantly Increased - Germany’s fireworks imports explode to record highs after pandemic slump

Germany's fireworks imports have skyrocketed to record levels after a sharp decline during the pandemic. In the first nine months of 2023, the country brought in 42,400 metric tons—62.6% more than the same period in 2022. The surge follows the easing of restrictions that had previously banned New Year's Eve sales in Germany.

The pandemic hit fireworks imports hard in 2021 and 2022. Strict bans on New Year's Eve sales led to a steep drop in demand. But once restrictions lifted, imports quickly recovered.

The latest figures confirm Germany's fireworks market has fully rebounded from pandemic lows. With nearly all imports still coming from China, the country's demand for pyrotechnics shows no signs of slowing. The 2024 record further cements this upward trend.
