Order Boost Gives Electronics Industry a Push for 2026 - Germany's digital and electrical industry rebounds with surging late-2025 orders

Germany's electrical and digital industry has shown signs of recovery after a period of stagnation. New orders rose sharply in late 2025, with December seeing a 17.1% jump compared to the same month the previous year. Industry leaders now expect growth to continue into 2026.

The sector closed 2025 with a 6.0% increase in total orders for the year. Both domestic and foreign demand contributed equally to the rise. Despite this, production dipped slightly by 0.4% over the same period.

Revenue for 2025 reached €224.5 billion, up 2.0% from 2024. The positive trend extended into October 2025, with domestic demand growing particularly strongly. However, full data for the first quarter of 2026 remains unavailable as of early February.

Looking ahead, the German Electrical and Digital Industry Association (ZVEI) forecasts a 2% real increase in production for 2026. The outlook for the next six months has also turned optimistic after three years of little to no growth.

The industry's performance in late 2025 suggests a turning point after a prolonged slowdown. With orders rising and revenue increasing, companies now anticipate a more stable year ahead. The ZVEI's projection of a 2% production growth in 2026 reflects cautious confidence in the sector's recovery.
