Germany Toughens Fireworks Rules: Police Enforcement, Higher Fines

Germany has tightened fireworks regulations. Fines have increased, and police now oversee usage, especially at night. The government aims to reduce illegal activities and fire hazards.

Previously, fireworks licenses were issued by the Mines Service. Now, the Police share this responsibility and have expanded powers. They can intervene directly to deter offenders and carry out inspections.

The new rules aim to combat distress caused to people and animals, as well as reduce fire hazards to the natural environment. The bill, examined by the Parliamentary Environment Committee, increases penalties and extends responsibility to property owners or event organizers.

The Police now play a key role in fireworks supervision, operating 24 hours to provide immediate response. The government's tougher stance seeks to restore order and ensure safety during fireworks events.
