Summer Holidays in Demand: Dertour Reports Strong Booking Increase - Germans rush to book summer holidays in record-breaking numbers for 2024

German travellers are booking summer holidays in record numbers this year. Dertour, the country’s second-largest tour operator, reports an 18 percent rise in summer reservations compared to 2023. Long-haul trips now make up nearly a fifth of all planned journeys.

Turkey remains the most popular summer destination for Germans, with bookings climbing by 11 percent. Spain, Greece, and Egypt follow closely behind. Tunisia has seen an especially sharp increase, with reservations almost doubling for the season.

The data shows clear trends in German travel habits for 2024. Turkey and Spain dominate summer and winter bookings, while Tunisia’s surge stands out. Rising costs in the Canary Islands and declining interest in North America reflect shifting preferences among holidaymakers.
