German teen arrested after police find 33,000 firecrackers and cannabis stash
A 19-year-old man from Darmstadt is under investigation for suspected breaches of the explosives law. Police discovered around 33,000 firecrackers at his home, along with a large quantity of cannabis and cash. The young man was arrested after attempting to flee during a court-authorised search. The investigation began after authorities found a substantial stash of pyrotechnics at the suspect’s residence. When questioned, he failed to provide valid documentation for the 33,000 firecrackers, prompting further legal action. During the search, officers also seized roughly eight kilograms of cannabis and over €10,000 in cash. A precision scale, two knives, and what appeared to be counterfeit designer goods were confiscated as well. The suspect tried to escape but was quickly detained and placed in temporary custody. Investigators are now examining the source of the fireworks and whether additional charges will apply. The case involves multiple alleged offences, including violations of explosives regulations and potential drug-related crimes. The suspect remains in custody as the probe continues. Authorities are tracing the origin of the pyrotechnics and assessing the full scope of the seized items. Further legal steps will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
