More Money for 1,300 Employees in the Bakery Industry - German bakery workers secure wage hikes and job stability in landmark deal

A new collective agreement has been reached between the food workers' union NGG and bakery company Aryzta. The deal covers around 1,300 employees across Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia, bringing wage increases and long-term job security.

Under the agreement, workers will see a 2.5% pay rise from April 2023. Further increases of 2% in January 2027 and 1.5% in July 2027 have also been confirmed. The contract will remain in place until 2028.

Aryzta operates major bakery sites in Eisleben and Nordhausen. The company has welcomed the deal, calling it a source of stability for staff and future planning. Olaf Klenke, NGG's chief negotiator, stressed that the agreement would help protect jobs in the region.

The deal ensures gradual wage growth over the next four years. Employees at Aryzta's Eisleben and Nordhausen facilities will benefit from the scheduled pay rises. The contract's duration until 2028 provides both workers and the company with long-term certainty.
