A 62-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly threatening an 81-year-old woman with a gun during an inheritance dispute. Police detained the suspect on Monday evening (December 22) following an emergency call from the victim in the Bad Emstal area.
The incident unfolded when the woman, whose name has not been released, contacted authorities after the suspect allegedly brandished a firearm. Officers responded quickly and took the man into provisional custody at the scene.
Prosecutors acted swiftly, requesting a pre-trial detention order on Tuesday (December 23). The suspect, accused of attempted aggravated extortion, is now set to appear before a magistrate the same afternoon. A decision on whether he will remain in custody is expected following the hearing.
The case centres on a dispute over inheritance between the elderly woman and the arrested man. If the detention order is granted, the suspect will stay in custody while investigations continue. The outcome of the magistrate’s hearing will determine the next steps in the legal process.
