Gas leak halts Fulda construction as Hünfeld car vandalism costs €6,000

A gas leak disrupted work at a Fulda construction site on Tuesday morning, while two cars were vandalised in nearby Hünfeld the day before. Authorities confirmed no public danger from the leak, and repairs began immediately after the incident.

The gas leak happened around 8:00 a.m. on March 3 at the Gallasiniring site in Fulda. Workers accidentally damaged a gas pipeline during construction. Crews acted quickly to stop the leak and prevent further risks.

Earlier, on Monday, March 2, two cars were vandalised in Hünfeld. A blue Volkswagen Passat and a gray Mazda CX-60, both parked at Neuer Friedhof on Friedensstraße, sustained damage. The incident took place between 7:40 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. that day.

Police estimate the total cost of repairs for the vehicles at around €6,000.

The Fulda gas leak was contained without harm to residents or workers. In Hünfeld, investigations into the car vandalism continue. Both incidents remain under review by local authorities.
