Fulda’s ‘Speak Up!’ Initiative Teaches Children Their Rights Through Theater

The 'Speak Up!' initiative in Fulda is entering its sixth cycle this year. Since 2014, the programme has helped educate children about their rights and how to seek help if they face abuse. Organisers expect another 800 students to take part in the latest round.

The initiative uses an interactive play to teach fifth- and sixth-grade students about children’s rights, boundary violations, and where to turn for support. The performance is part of a wider effort to prevent child sexual abuse across Germany.

The initiative continues to expand, reaching more students each year. With structured workshops, plays, and support materials, it aims to create lasting awareness of child protection. Schools in the Fulda region will again take part in the coming months.
