Fulda’s Rare Nativity Exhibition Celebrates Centuries of Family Traditions

Fulda's Episcopal Seminary Library is set to host an enchanting exhibition, 'Nativity Scenes: A Family Tradition', opening on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at 7:00 PM. The event, featuring a keynote address by Prof. Dr. Christoph G. Müller, showcases nativity scenes from private collections, highlighting their historical and cultural significance.

The exhibition, running until February 2, 2026, during library hours and free to the public, celebrates the tradition of the family nativity. It aims to foster a sense of belonging and continuity by inviting families to submit photos of their own family nativity. These submissions will be digitally displayed, creating a mosaic of familial customs.

Nativity scenes are deeply rooted in the history and culture of many families, serving as intimate heirlooms and expressions of family values. The exhibition, by focusing on these private collections, tells the stories behind these crèches. Special openings and guided tours are available upon request, ensuring everyone can appreciate these treasured pieces of family history.

All families in the Diocese of Fulda are encouraged to participate by sending a photo of their nativity scene to [email protected]. The exhibition, a testament to the enduring appeal of the nativity scene, promises to be a heartwarming celebration of family, tradition, and community.
