Fulda's Democracy Fund Opens €10,000 Grants for Local Initiatives by March 20

The Fulda Partnership for Democracy has opened applications for the federal program Demokratie leben! to support local projects. Funding is available for initiatives that strengthen diversity, democracy, and community engagement. Interested groups must submit their proposals by March 20, 2026.

The call for applications launched on February 13, 2026, with a strict deadline of March 20. Organisations must first book a consultation with the Partnership's coordination office before applying. Those who skip this step will not be considered.

Funding priorities this year include projects on democracy and human rights, mental health, and minority participation. Successful applicants can receive up to €10,000 for their initiatives. All funded projects must begin no earlier than May 1, 2026, and finish by December 31, 2026.

An information and networking session will take place on April 29, 2026, at 6:00 PM. The event will explain the new funding rules and answer questions from potential applicants. The Fulda alliance itself is made up of 15 voting members, including representatives from local government, politics, and civil society.

No official count of applications has been released yet. The process remains open to grassroots groups and local initiatives.

The program aims to boost democratic participation through targeted funding. Approved projects will receive financial support and must align with the set timelines. Consultations are available until the end of February for those seeking guidance on their submissions.
