Fulda UAS Wins €6M DFG Project to Boost Citizen Participation
Fulda University of Applied Sciences has been selected for a significant research project, aiming to enhance citizen participation in various sectors. The project, worth millions, is one of only five funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and will commence in early January 2026, lasting initially for five years with a possible extension of three.
An interdisciplinary team from five departments will collaborate on this project. Their goal is to develop practical solutions for everyday issues through citizen participation, focusing on health, energy, mobility, and education. The team will investigate how digital participation can drive societal change in these areas.
The project's outcome will be a digital platform, dubbed the 'Participation Hub'. This platform will aggregate and present results, methods, and recommendations relating to digital participation in an easily understandable and freely accessible manner. Citizens will be able to explore participation opportunities in various sectors, both online and locally.
The DFG will fund this project for five years with a total of €6 million. The team at Fulda University of Applied Sciences is committed to improving citizen engagement in research and hopes that the Participation Hub will serve as a valuable resource for the public, fostering societal change through digital participation.
