Fulda police crack down on illegal car modifications and unlicensed drivers
Fulda police have impounded vehicles and issued penalties during a recent crackdown on traffic offenses in the city center. The operation targeted speeders, illegal modifications, and safety violations.
Last Thursday, officers inspected 20 vehicles. A Hyundai driven by an underage girl was seized after a prohibited flick knife was found. Both the driver and the car were impounded. During the operation, 9 administrative offense proceedings and 9 criminal complaints were issued. Six vehicles had technical defects, and three had unauthorized modifications.
Among the violations, a Ford 3 Series was found with illegal exhaust modifications, exceeding the legal noise limit by over 11 dB(A). The driver was unlicensed, leading to the vehicle's seizure. Additionally, three e-scooter riders were stopped. One was suspected of drug influence, another was uninsured, and the third was riding a non-compliant model at high speed without a valid license.
Specialized officers also targeted excessive speeding and noise pollution. They engaged in preventive discussions with the local car scene and seized three vehicles, including the Ford 3 Series, the Hyundai, and the non-compliant e-bike. An electric-assist bicycle was also found to be non-compliant, equipped with a throttle, and the rider lacked a valid license and insurance.
The traffic checks in Fulda resulted in several seizures and penalties. Authorities aim to ensure road safety and compliance with regulations. No further information was found about a previous incident in Gießen on October 30, 2025.
