Fulda hit by wave of vandalism targeting church, sports ground, and luxury car

A series of vandalism incidents struck Fulda and the surrounding area earlier this month. Between January 5 and January 6, multiple properties—including a church, a sports ground, and a luxury car—were targeted. Police are now investigating possible links between the cases.

The first incident occurred at a church on Günter-Groenhoff-Straße in Gersfeld. Sometime between 12:30 PM on Monday, January 5, and 8:45 AM the following day, unknown offenders defaced a prayer request book and an altar book. The extent of the damage remains unclear.

Later, on Tuesday, January 6, at around 2:30 PM, residents in Dipperz discovered graffiti—including swastikas—sprayed on walls and the ground at the old sports ground. The damage was estimated at roughly €500. That same afternoon, between 1:30 PM and 10:00 PM, a blue Porsche Panamera parked on Pacelliallee in Fulda had its two rear tyres slashed. The attack, carried out with a sharp object, caused around €500 in damage. Police noted that the church vandalism in Gersfeld might connect to an earlier incident at another church on Marktplatz, reported on Wednesday, January 7.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the incidents are linked or politically motivated. The total damage from the three cases exceeds €1,000. Investigations into the vandalism are ongoing.
