FSV Cappel Honored for Century of Sport and Community Leadership

FSV 1926 Cappel has been honoured with the Hessian Minister-President's Silver Honor Plaque for its outstanding contributions to sport and community life. The award, presented by city councillor and sports commissioner Kirsten Dinnebier, recognises the club's athletic success as well as its long-standing commitment to diversity and social cohesion.

The celebration also marked a special milestone: the club's 100th anniversary, shared with the Cappel Volunteer Fire Brigade, which is likewise observing a century of service. The event took place at the Cappel Community Center, where volunteers from both the football club and the fire brigade were celebrated. Distinguished guests praised FSV Cappel's work, highlighting its role as more than just a sports club—it serves as a hub for togetherness and mutual respect, regardless of background or financial means.

The club's youth programmes play a central role in its mission. With around 50 volunteer coaches and youth leaders, FSV Cappel runs initiatives such as Easter and summer camps, prevention projects, and support for young people transitioning into the workforce. Of its 500 members, over half are children and teenagers, including 350 active players and 250 in youth teams.

The Silver Honor Plaque specifically acknowledges the club's efforts in fostering inclusion and unity. Its century-long history, combined with ongoing community engagement, has made it a cornerstone of local life in Cappel. The award and anniversary celebrations underscore FSV Cappel's enduring impact on both sport and society. With a strong focus on youth development and volunteer-driven initiatives, the club continues to strengthen community bonds. Its recognition by the Hessian Minister-President reflects a legacy built on dedication and shared values.
