From Afghan Refugee to Solar Entrepreneur: Rostam Nazari’s Inspiring Journey
Rostam Nazari fled Afghanistan as a child and later built a new life in Germany. Arriving at 15 with no education, he went on to establish a successful solar energy business. Now, he has shared his journey in an autobiographical book covering his experiences across three countries.
Born in 1984, Nazari left Afghanistan with his family at the age of 7. Their first stop was Iran, where they stayed for several years. In 1993, when he was 9, they made the difficult move to Germany.
He arrived in the country at 15, unable to read or write. Despite the challenges, he worked hard to learn the language and gain an education. By 24, he had founded his own company in Marburg, specialising in photovoltaic installations. His book recounts the struggles of growing up as a refugee, adapting to new cultures, and eventually finding success. The story spans his early years in Afghanistan, the family’s time in Iran, and their eventual resettlement in Germany.
Nazari’s company continues to operate in Marburg, focusing on renewable energy solutions. His book now offers a firsthand account of resilience, education, and entrepreneurship. The story highlights both personal perseverance and the opportunities that shaped his path.
