Frimmersdorf and Neurath’s ‘Power Plant Villages’ Project Nears Final Design Phase
Plans to revitalise key public spaces in Frimmersdorf and Neurath are moving forward. The 'Power Plant Villages' project aims to redesign the church square in Frimmersdorf and Peter-Kauertz-Platz in Neurath, balancing practical needs with community appeal. A third village conference will take place on February 6, 2026, to discuss the latest proposals with residents.
The planning firm MWM has been tasked with refining early concepts for the two squares. Their work will be presented at the upcoming conference, where attendees can review design options and share feedback. This event follows ongoing discussions between planners, local officials, and residents to shape the project’s direction.
A detailed site assessment is also underway. Surveying and geotechnical studies will provide essential data to guide the redevelopment. Meanwhile, gmp Architekten von Gerkan, Marg und Partner will prepare the final implementation plans for both locations. Funding applications are set for submission in March 2026. If approved, construction could begin by late 2027. The project’s success depends on continued collaboration between all stakeholders to ensure the designs meet functional, aesthetic, and social goals.
The third village conference marks a key step in finalising the redevelopment plans. Residents will have the chance to influence the designs before funding is secured. Once approved, the project will transform two central spaces to better serve the communities of Frimmersdorf and Neurath.
