A frightened dog caused a brief disruption on New Year’s Eve after running onto a train in Hesse. The animal, startled by a firecracker, boarded a regional service near Lollar before being safely recovered by federal police.

The incident began around 10 p.m. on Wednesday near Lollar in the Gießen district. A loud firework spooked the dog, which then fled to Friedelhausen station. Without anyone noticing, it slipped onto a regional train heading to Gießen.

Once the train was moving, passengers spotted the dog hiding under a row of seats. They quickly located its owner and informed both the owner and federal police. A dog handler from the Bundespolizei met the train at Gießen station, took the animal into custody, and calmed it down. The owner later collected the dog from the federal police station without further incident.

The dog was safely returned after its unexpected train journey. Federal police confirmed no injuries or major delays occurred. The quick response from passengers and authorities ensured a smooth resolution.
