Winegrowers End Grape Harvest - Freyburg-Unstrut's Bumper 2025 Harvest Promises Aromatic, Fruity Wines
The Freyburg-Unstrut Winegrowersâ Association has successfully concluded the grape harvest for 2025. The new vintage promises aromatic, fruity, and fresh total wines, with the first bottles expected later this year.
MĂŒller-Thurgau leads this year's production with 500,000 liters, followed by Bacchus with 430,000 liters. Pinot Blanc comes in third with 300,000 liters. Traditionally, aromatic varieties like Bacchus, Kerner, Huxelrebe, and Scheurebe are the first to hit the market.
The total yield for this year is nearly three million liters, a significant increase from last year's harvest of 600,000 liters, which was affected by frost damage. The Ostfriesische Winzergenossenschaft, a wine cooperative with over 30 grape varieties cultivated by its members, will release their first 2025 site-typical wines for sale next year.
The 2025 vintage is set to be a bumper crop, with a wide variety of wines to enjoy. Consumers can look forward to fresh, fruity, and aromatic first watch wines, with the first bottles expected later this year.
