Free Bicycle Coding Events Help Reunite Owners with Lost or Stolen Bikes in Central Hesse
The Central Hesse Police Headquarters has initiated free bicycle coding events to help reunite lost or stolen bicycles with their owners. This service has already proven successful, as seen in recent incidents across the region.
Last week, a woman from Wetzlar was reunited with her bicycle after it was found in Hilchenbach, North Rhine-Westphalia. The police attributed this success to the FEIN engraving she had done a year ago. This engraving, part of the free bicycle coding service, includes a unique number along with the district identifier, municipality, and owner's initials.
In other news, a truck driver is suspected of damaging a signpost and telephone pole on Stangenwaage Street in Dillenburg/Donsbach on October 27, 2025, around 8:30 PM. Meanwhile, burglars targeted a pub on Schlesierstraße in Braunfels, stealing cash and a cash box from arcade machines between October 28, 2025, at 11:50 PM and October 29, 2025, at 9:30 AM. In Wetzlar's Naunheim, an unknown perpetrator shattered a window of a gray Škoda Enyaq and stole a handbag from a gray Seat León on separate occasions between October 28 and 29, 2025.
The police urge bicycle owners to take advantage of the free coding service to increase the chances of recovery if their bicycle goes missing. They also remind the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
