Frankfurt's Transport: Temporary Changes for Accessibility & Construction

Frankfurt's public transport and traffic patterns are set to change temporarily due to construction and accessibility standards improvements. Key routes and stops will be affected, with diversions and closures in place until late 2025.

Starting immediately, LNVG line 72 is rerouted from Ludwig Street towards Frankfurt Airport Terminal 1. It will bypass the Market Square stop, instead using replacement stops at Weisenauer Street and number 6 on Königstädter Street.

During the summer holidays, the 'Sophie-Opel-Schule' bus stop on Ernst-Reuter Street will become barrier-free, ensuring accessibility for all.

Until the end of July 2025, traffic into the city on Frankfurter Street is open between Ludwig-Dörfler-Allee and Taunus Street, while the opposite direction out of the city is closed. In Königstädten, the one-way street rule on Kohlseestraße from east to west is in effect until the end of May 2025.

Pedestrians and cyclists can use Taunus, Wilhelminen, and Königstädter Streets to bypass the affected areas. Traffic from Frankfurter Street towards Rugbyring is diverted via the city underpass and Darmstadt Street.

These changes aim to improve accessibility and facilitate ongoing construction work. Motorists, public transport users, pedestrians, and cyclists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and allow extra time.
