Frankfurt’s Tallest Wood-Hybrid Tower Rises in the Gallus District by 2028

Frankfurt’s largest wood-hybrid office building, named Hellerblick, is now under construction in the Gallus district. The project forms a key part of the new Hellerhöfe quarter, a mixed-use development replacing the former FAZ newspaper site. Ground was broken in July 2025, with full completion of the entire neighbourhood expected by 2029.

The Hellerblick tower will rise 16 storeys, offering 15,000 square meters of office space alongside 300 square meters of terraces. A building permit for the structure was granted on December 15, 2025, clearing the way for construction. The Bauwens-Gruppe is overseeing the project, which also includes 85 car parking spaces and 237 bicycle spots.

The wider Hellerhöfe quarter will cover around 60,000 square meters, housing roughly 1,000 residents across 542 apartments. Designed as a family-friendly area, it will feature two daycare centers, while the City of Frankfurt plans to build a school on a neighboring plot. The goal is to blend living and working spaces in a single, cohesive district.

Construction of Hellerblick is set to finish in late 2028, ahead of the quarter’s full completion in 2029. The project marks a shift toward sustainable, mixed-use urban development in Frankfurt.

Once finished, Hellerblick will stand as Frankfurt’s tallest timber-hybrid office building. The Hellerhöfe quarter will provide homes, workplaces, and community facilities for residents and businesses. The development is expected to reshape the Gallus district with its modern, eco-conscious design.
