Frankfurt’s Main Plaza Tower to Become Luxury Apartments by 2026
Frankfurt’s iconic Main Plaza high-rise is set for a major transformation. The 24-storey Art Deco tower, completed in 2001, will become a modern suite and apartment building under new ownership. Renovations will begin in 2026, with plans to blend hotel services, digital convenience, and upscale living.
The 88-metre skyscraper, designed by architect Hans Kollhoff, was acquired in November 2025 by Michael Schramm, founder of the Apartmentresidenz Group. His vision includes 120 all-suite apartments, each featuring modern digital amenities and a compact kitchenette. The redesign aims to prove that older high-rises can adapt to new market needs while keeping their original character.
The revamped Main Plaza Suite Tower could bring fresh appeal to Frankfurt’s Deutschherrenviertel district. Its blend of hotel, apartment, and digital services targets modern lifestyles. If demand follows, the tower may set a precedent for repurposing older high-rises in urban centres.
