Frankfurt's HEP2024 Wins ICONIC AWARD for Pioneering High-Rise Plan

Frankfurt's City Planning Department, in collaboration with several renowned firms, has developed a pioneering high-rise development plan, HEP2024. This plan has been recognized with the prestigious ICONIC AWARD 2025 in the 'Concept' category by the German Design Council, demonstrating its innovative approach to urban development.

The HEP2024 plan aims to guide future high-rise construction in Frankfurt systematically and sustainably. It emphasizes mixed-use development and publicly accessible ground floors, ensuring high-rises integrate well with their surroundings and function as 'good neighbors'. The plan specifies key locations for high-rise expansion, including Mainzer Landstraße, the trade fair grounds, and Ostend, with a high-rise promenade along the historic city walls.

The plan was developed in collaboration with AS+P, ee-concept, weatherpark, and INKEK. It outlines binding quality and process standards for high-rise projects, incorporating ecological, social, and economic criteria. The plan demonstrates how urban density, sustainability, and functional integration can be coordinated without treating buildings in isolation.

The HEP2024 plan has been awarded the ICONIC AWARD for its innovative approach to high-rise development. By mandating publicly accessible ground floors and setting urban design guidelines, the plan ensures that high-rises invigorate surrounding districts and contribute to Frankfurt's sustainable growth.
