Frankfurt Expands Drug Consumption Room - Frankfurt upgrades drug facility to combat crack and addiction crisis
Frankfurt is expanding its drug consumption facility in the Bahnhofsviertel district to address the ongoing drug crisis. The city’s existing supervised site on Niddastraße will undergo renovations to better support people struggling with addiction, particularly those using crack. Officials will outline the planned changes at a press event today at 11:30 AM.
The facility on Niddastraße, run by Integrative Drogenhilfe, is being updated to meet shifting drug use trends. The goal is to create a safer, more hygienic space for a growing number of users. Gabi Becker, the organisation’s director, and Elke Voitl, Frankfurt’s Social Affairs Commissioner, will present the details of the expansion.
The updated facility will offer a more secure environment for crack users and others in need. With coordinated police and outreach efforts already in place, the expansion strengthens Frankfurt’s response to the drug crisis. The changes will be officially announced later today by Becker and Voitl.
