Frankfurt Shocked by Wave of Graffiti Vandalism, Including Swastika Symbol
Frankfurt residents were left shocked and dismayed after a series of graffiti incidents defaced public property in the city over the past few weeks. The most recent incidents occurred on Wednesday, 1 October 2025, with a mailbox in Margaretenstraße and a house in Radilostraße becoming targets.
The graffiti on the mailbox in Margaretenstraße was discovered by a resident who promptly alerted the police. The exterior wall of a house in Radilostraße was also vandalised, with a large hammer and sickle symbol spray-painted across a 10 x 1 meter area. The following day, police found a swastika symbol spray-painted on a traffic light pole in Battonstraße. Despite extensive investigations, the identity of the person responsible for the swastika symbol remains unknown.
Police have launched an investigation into these incidents, which are part of a recent spate of graffiti-related property damage in the Frankfurt area. The facility management of the house in Radilostraße swiftly removed the graffiti and filed a criminal complaint. Similarly, police removed the graffiti from the mailbox and also drew up a criminal complaint.
The police urge anyone with information about these incidents to come forward. The city of Frankfurt condemns all forms of vandalism and hate symbols, and is committed to maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for its residents.
