A damaged roof has forced part of a Frankfurt school to close, disrupting lessons for hundreds of students. The issue was uncovered during a routine inspection on Wednesday, prompting immediate action from authorities. Around 1,000 pupils at the Anni-Albers School are now affected by the shutdown.
Firefighters and the Technical Relief Agency were called to the scene after inspectors found the roof damage. While only a section of the building has been impacted, classes have been suspended until at least Friday. The school, which serves roughly 1,300 students across three campuses, must now find alternative arrangements.
A tram line running in front of the building was also temporarily halted as a precaution. Frankfurt's head of education, Sylvia Weber, is coordinating the response to ensure safety and minimise disruption. Officials have not yet confirmed when normal operations will resume.
The closure leaves 1,000 students without classes for the rest of the week. Repairs will determine how soon the affected section can reopen. Authorities are working to assess the full extent of the damage and plan the next steps.
