Frankfurt Public Transport Fares to Rise 4% from January 2025

From January 1, 2025, public transport users in Frankfurt and the surrounding region will face a fare increase. The Rhein-Main Transport Association (RMV) has approved an average 4 percent hike, affecting all tickets, including monthly and annual passes.

The single adult fare in Frankfurt will rise from €3.65 to €3.80. A trip from Frankfurt to Wiesbaden will now cost €11.00, up from €10.55. The price adjustment is necessary due to soaring personnel and energy costs, with energy costs currently around 50 percent higher than in 2022.

The RMV's supervisory board approved the fare increase, which will also impact federal and state subsidy calculations. Despite the rise in costs, the price of the Deutschland-Ticket will remain unchanged at €49 per month.

From the new year, commuters in the RMV region can expect to pay more for their journeys. The fare increase, while modest, reflects the rising costs of operating public transport services.
