Frankfurt man faces charges for growing 17 towering cannabis plants at home

Police in Frankfurt have initiated criminal proceedings against a 69-year-old man for cultivating an excessive number of cannabis plants at his residence on Bechtenwaldstraße.

The man, whose name remains undisclosed, was found asleep in his apartment when officers noticed the plants blocking the windows. He claimed the plants were for personal use, a claim that was disproven by the discovery of 17 cannabis plants, with some reaching heights of up to two meters. This number exceeds the limit set by the new Cannabis Consumption Act, which allows adults to cultivate no more than three living cannabis plants for personal use at their primary residence.

The suspect now faces criminal proceedings, marking a stern reminder of the legal limits on cannabis cultivation, even as the new act allows for personal use.
