Frankfurt Honors Uladzimir Bykov with Memorial Plaque in Bockenheimer Anlage Park
Frankfurt's district council has given the green light for a memorial plaque honouring Uladzimir Bykov in Bockenheimer Anlage Park. Bykov, a prominent figure, is commemorated in the park for his ties to the city.
Bykov, a critic of the Lukashenko regime, was forced to flee Belarus in 1998. He found refuge in Frankfurt am Main in 2001 and 2002 through the 'City of Refuge' programme. The city recognised his significance and contributions, leading to the erection of a monument in his honour in Bockenheimer Anlage Park. The upcoming memorial plaque will serve as a further tribute to his legacy.
The district council's approval paves the way for the memorial plaque, set to be installed in Bockenheimer Anlage Park. This addition will serve as a reminder of Uladzimir Bykov's impact and the city's commitment to supporting those who stand for freedom and democracy.
