Fine for squatters of Dondorf printing press in Frankfurt - Frankfurt Court Fines Man for Occupying Historic Dondorf Printing Press

The Frankfurt District Court has recently sentenced a 28-year-old individual to a fine for unlawfully occupying the former Dondorf Printing Press in Frankfurt. The building, previously managed by the Goethe University, was in the spotlight for potential redevelopment into a Max Planck Institute, with demolition discussions underway.

The defendant, who occupied the building from December 14 to 19, 2023, was ordered to pay 60 daily fines of €35 each, totaling €2,100. During this time, the defendant refused to comply with police orders to vacate the premises. Following the occupation, the Schirn Art Hall has moved into the building on an interim basis.

The Frankfurt District Court's ruling brings closure to this case, with the occupier facing a financial penalty. The future of the former Dondorf Printing Press remains uncertain, with the Schirn Art Hall currently utilizing the space temporarily.
