Frankfurt Airport’s East Taxiway Bridge closes for critical LED upgrade

Fraport AG, the operator of Frankfurt Airport, is set to commence a significant renovation project on the East Taxiway Bridge. The three-month project, starting April 2, aims to enhance safety and efficiency by replacing around 70 outdated runway lights with energy-efficient LED fixtures. During this time, the bridge will be closed to air traffic, with landing aircraft rerouted via the western taxiway bridge.

The project, managed by a dedicated Fraport AG-appointed project manager, will focus on addressing substantial wear and tear on the bridge's surface caused by heavy use. While the East Taxiway Bridge is closed, the Northwest Runway will continue to operate normally, ensuring minimal disruption to flight schedules. The new LED lights, once installed, will improve visibility and reduce energy consumption, contributing to a more sustainable and safer airport environment.

The renovation of the East Taxiway Bridge at Frankfurt Airport is expected to last until the end of June, with all work carried out during nighttime hours to minimize disruption to daytime operations. Upon completion, the bridge will reopen with improved infrastructure, further enhancing the safety and efficiency of Frankfurt Airport.
